Mirafiori: production stop likely until October
The latest news on Stellantis Mirafiori paints a worrying picture for the famous Turin plant, known for producing the Fiat 500e and Maserati cars. According to what was reported by Milano Finanza, the crisis could continue well beyond mid-September, with a production suspended until mid-October.
Currently, the plan includes a resumption of activities October 14, but the outlook is not entirely rosy. It is expected that, even after this date, there will only be sporadic and isolated working days until the end of the year. Added to this is the precarious demand for the Fiat 500e, already reduced to a minimum, and to which Stellantis has responded with the new Fiat 500 hybrid, expected next year.
In the long term, a cheaper and more autonomous version of the Fiat 500e could arrive in 2026. The hope is that this new version can revive the fortunes of the model, which has not met initial expectations.
It remains to be seen whether Stellantis will officially confirm this further production stop and what the concrete strategies will be to address and overcome the ongoing crisis. All eyes are on the group’s CEO, Carlos Tavares.
