Through an official post directly on the blog, Valve officially unveils the Steam Deck console packaging, also giving excellent news regarding the release of this small but powerful PC. In fact, in the article the company highlights how the version shown is the one that will be dedicated to dev-kits, the step just before the release in stores.
While a few days ago the same company had clarified the possibility of exclusives, Valve now previews the contents of the Steam Deck package itself, along with an additional preview of the console itself. As you can see from the photos, available in this news, the packaging is incredibly minimal and almost anonymous.
The package indeed it will arrive inside a cardboard box that does not carry any symbols or trademarks, which has left many users perplexed, who expected a logo or an image that portrayed the console. Inside, there are console and power supply, which will be appropriate according to the region in which it was purchased.
It is also interesting to note that inside the package there is also the case for the console, so you don’t have to make a second purchase and can keep this small but powerful PC safe right away. The last photo in the gallery is dedicated to the dev-kit version, ready to be sent to the developers.
Below is the description that Valve makes itself of the package, along with the news regarding the dev-kits:
We recently completed Steam Deck’s DV (Design Validation) production build and will be using these units for further testing and dev kits. DV is the final prototype build before final production and includes improvements from the EV2 build. There will also be other small changes in the final product. One of the main differences between these prototypes and the previous ones (EV2) is that we are now testing the packaging design. So before we start shipping these prototypes to the developers, we wanted you to take a look at the final packaging for customers to see in February.
The package you see pictured is therefore the final one that users who have ordered Steam Deck will receive, which will be available starting from February next year.
