The issue has been known for some time but it seems that the deadline for the conclusion of physical games at the large American chain Walmart is now close: according to some testimonies, it seems that the retailers of this chain are about to remove Starfield and other Xbox games off the shelves, starting next week.
There is no official confirmation, but an alleged document leaked online seems to indicate that, starting next week, Walmart stores have received indications to run out of supplies of physical games for Xbox, also with reference to Starfield, evidently the most prominent title for the Microsoft console in terms of games on optical media.
This is nothing new: last year the news emerged about the probable conclusion of the sale of physical games for Xbox through Walmart, which could herald a general shift for the Microsoft console towards digital, considering that this already represents the vast majority of sales on this platform.
A move by Walmart or Microsoft?
According to reports, it seems that the maneuver is supported by the company itself Microsoftwhich could go in the direction of a clear stance on the part of the Redmond house, which on the other hand has the currently most widespread new generation platform which is exclusively digital.
However, it could also be a decision started by Walmart itself and destined to invest the entire video game sales division of the chain, considering that rumors have been circulating for some time about the possibility that the company decides to close the sale completely of physical games from 2024.
