The general classification was finalized yesterday by clever team work by Jumbo-Visma, skilfully completed by Jonas Vingegaard. However, we cannot rest on our laurels yet. A long time trial is scheduled for tomorrow and there is certainly danger lurking in today’s stage. The mountains are now behind us, but a strong breeze is blowing.
The riders will leave at 1.05 pm and then ride north for most of the day, where the finish in Cahors is expected around 5.15 pm. The wind comes from the west, so in the side, and there are enough open spaces to throw things to the side.
Fabio Jakobsen’s team is made for fan spectacles and Dylan Groenewegen seems to be in excellent form. There are two fourth category climbs in the final, but they will not stand in the way of a bunch sprint. The question is rather how much space any refugees will get. Deep in a big lap it is usually difficult to control things.
