The World Cup Qatar 2022 and the controversies, hand in hand. The Foundation for International Democracy denounced slavery conditions in the construction of the stages, but apparently that does not matter.
According to its report “Behind the Passion”, more than 6,500 workers have died, an average of twelve lives per week since 2010.

The two million migrant workers built roads, railways, stadiums, hotels and convention centers, among others, and almost 40 percent worked in the construction sector, but life in Qatar was not the best.
They were forced to work between 16 and 18 hours a day, seven days a week, performing tasks outdoors and enduring temperatures that reach 50 degrees, they were given little water and rotten food.
“As if this were not enough, the homes they are provided with are small spaces in which they live crowded together, without having the minimum hygienic conditions,” says Whpei.
An average of 12 workers have been reported to have died each week since December 2010, when Qatar was chosen to host the World Cup.
hard story
One of the stadium workers recounted his drama and was able to help the Argentine player Lionel Messi.
He said that the food was bad, that the working conditions were not the best, and that there was very little water.
In the same way, he said that they were giving him money and that they promised him a number of euros and they did not comply.
“I think Fifa has a lot of the blame, as they host the World Cups, Fifa should also oversee the treatment of workers and their pay,” he said.
