Squid Game it’s quite a sensation. In just a few days, this South Korean production has become the most popular foreign series on Netflix, and although at the moment there is nothing confirmed, It seems that a second season would already be on the way.
Despite his previous comments, Hwang Dong-hyuk, writer and director of Squid Game, recently spoke to The Times, where he noted that he already has a couple of ideas for the series’ second season. Considering the end of the first part, this is something that many expected. However, the direction would be different, as the focus this time would be on the cops. Here’s what Hwang Dong-hyuk had to say about it:
“As I was writing the first season, I thought about the stories that could be in the second season if I get to do one; one would be the story of the Frontman.
I think the problem with police officers is not just a problem in Korea. I see in the world news that the police force can take a long time to act on things: there are more victims or the situation worsens because they do not act fast enough. This was an issue I wanted to raise. Maybe in the second season I can talk more about this. “
The Frontman was the person that many pointed to as the boss of this game, and considering that he was a policeman, the director wants to explore this topic. Although at the moment there is no official information, It seems like a second season is only a matter of time since Squid Game is already one of the most successful Netflix productions.
On related issues, Netflix has acquired its first video game studio. Similarly, Knights of the Zodiac they will leave this platform in October.
