Honda, a small point in Jerez
A great shame for the Honda this Jerez Sprint. Considering the numerous crashes that upset the hierarchies of the short race in Andalusia, Joan Mir and Luca Marini could both have been in the points. Instead, only the Spaniard made it to the top-9, who thanks to Raul Fernandez's penalty picked up a small point, while the former Ducati rider was unable to recover from the crisis of results, ending up in the trap of the damp circuit at turn-5.
Mir's words
Mir, the blameless protagonist of the penalty inflicted on Marc Marquez (who entered too decisively against him in an attempt to recover ground and was punished with the return of a position), commented on his race in this way, which before the contact with his former teammate he was even in sixth place: “Today I felt much better with the bike and I was riding well. The conditions were not easy, with some wet patches still on the track, and the race was chaotic. I had a great start and passed a couple of riders, breaking away from the group behind me and I was with Raul Fernandez for most of the race. Then I had a contact with Marquez and I lost three or four positions. Last year there was a similar incident between me and Quartararo, for the following race they gave me a long lap penalty“.
Marini's words
“It was a crazy race, there were a lot of wet spots and the wind was very strong. It was really easy to make a mistake and especially in the Sprint, where everyone pushes a lot and tries to overtake“, added Marini. “Especially for us, who struggle in 'normal' conditions, it was very difficult. I crashed alone, like many other riders, at turn 5. It was very windy and a large wet patch outside. I'm fine and we'll try again tomorrow“.
