As widely announced, there will be six weekends in which the format introduced for the first time in 2021 will be tackled, which has since divided fans and generated conflicting opinions. In recent years, such a high number of sprints had never been achieved in a single championship.
The official announcement was accompanied by the words of the President and CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicaliwho commented on the increase from three to six Sprints as follows: “We have seen an extremely positive reaction to Sprint events during the first two years of operation – he has declared – and we look forward to bringing even more action to fans with six events next year, including our own first US F1 Sprint ad Austin. The introduction of the F1 Sprint has created a race weekend comprising three days of competitive racing and brings more entertainment to fans of the sport, as well as added value for key stakeholders including the teams, broadcasters, partners and host institutions”.
