The BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Brenz E-Class are the top dogs in the upper middle class. Hardly anyone else can come close. A concept comparison.
SUntil the darkness falls over the highway. The clock advances towards midnight, the speedometer shows 150 km/h. There are still 400 kilometers to go for the driver and the car, and now it becomes clear whether the two will merge symbiotically.
Perhaps the seat heating provides warmth, perhaps a “hot stone” massages with gentle pressure, and ambient light flows through the room. The chassis filters out all the harshness of the surface and yet skillfully adheres the tires to the asphalt, the steering is calm itself, a state of deep familiarity sets in. Anyone who has ever been on the move in such a constellation will be able to feel the feeling, there is enough sense and understanding. The path becomes the destination. No matter whether the screens on wheels come from the West or the East with courage and power, at this moment it will be clear without any exaggeration: In the upper middle class, no one builds better cars than BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Audi will probably still be there when they wake up from their slumber. But at the moment nothing and no one in this category comes close to the 5 Series and the E-Class, both of which have recently been renewed.
