Primo De Giuli, mayor of Motta Viscontia town in the hinterland of Milan, is back in the news. It had already done so about a year ago after having taken the decision to prohibit the passage of dogs in the town centre for hygiene reasons, now it is back in the centre of attention for having issued a fine for speeding. Apparently nothing strange, if it were not for the fact that the victims of the fine were some cyclists.
Speeding fine
The local police of Motta Visconti has in fact fined for speeding some cyclists who were pedaling along the towpath that runs next to the Naviglio di Bereguardo. According to what was reported by Ansa, it is a road that is used by canal maintenance vehicles, but which is open to pedestrians and cyclists. On one condition though: they cannot exceed 10 km/h. A condition that was not met last Sunday morning.
Victims…some cyclists
At least this is what was found by the police, who through the telelaser they measured the speed of the cyclists and then proceeded with the fines. In particular, one of these was given to a cyclist who was going 32 km/h at 8:39. Obviously, the first controversies arose immediately: several citizens accused the municipal administration of wanting make moneydespite the latter having reiterated that it only wanted to ensure the safety of families walking on the Alzaia.
