Sparks in Bahrain
At the end of the Bahrain Grand Prix the Racing Bulls asked Yuki Tsunoda to make way for Daniel Ricciardo to try to overtake Kevin Magnussen in the fight for twelfth position. Tsunoda was equipped with hard tyres, Ricciardo with soft tyres, hence the wall's request to the Japanese to let his teammate pass.
After a while reluctance Tsunoda stepped aside, but Ricciardo was unable to overtake Kevin Magnussen and did not return the position before the checkered flag. Tsunoda didn't like what happened, giving vent to his grievances with a somewhat tight braking on the lap of honor towards Ricciardo.
Helmut Marko he commented on the episode from his point of view: “If you look at it from a logical point of view, you have to say that Ricciardo was on the soft tire and Yuki was on the hard, so the chances for Ricciardo to overtake Magnussen in the Haas were greater. I'd say it was logical to ask for an exchange – his words reported by the newspaper motorsport-total.com – we hoped they could score some points, but if the top five teams don't have any problems it's difficult for the others to fit in.”
