Verstappen towards Montmeló
It seems like a lifetime ago since that little boy named Max Verstappen he won at Montmeló in his first real chance to shine. Eight years have actually passed, and in the meantime Super Max has scored another 59 successes in Formula 1, seriously jeopardizing the numbers of Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen, who will show off his new orange helmet this weekend, is in splendid form and arrives at Montmeló as the favourite. However, what was a certainty until a few races ago (Red Bull) has turned into an unknown from Miami onwards. Will the RB20 be able to react to the recent difficulties and find itself on a highly aerodynamic circuit? #1 is convinced so.
Verstappen’s words
“This week I was with the team at the factory to prepare for the Spanish Grand Prix, which is the first race of a very demanding triple. I have good memories of this circuit, especially my first F1 victory. It has a good mix of high and low speed corners and we have historically done well at this circuit, we hope to be able to maximize the car’s performance this weekend. We want to keep Canada’s momentum going – we’re looking forward to racing this weekend, hoping for sunshine“These are his words. “Barcelona will be the first race where my new orange helmet will debut. As a tribute to my fans and all their support, they are actually featured on the helmet and I think the final design is really beautiful and detailed“.
Perez’s words
The Spanish GP will also be an opportunity for Sergio Perez to redeem the tremendous performances of Imola, Monte-Carlo and Montreal: “I know I need a good weekend after the disaster in Canada. Sometimes you are forced to do a reset and we did it after the last race. I’ve been in Milton Keynes working with the team to try to identify where and what we can improve to ensure we get the most out of this car. I’m confident in the car and the performance we can achieve, but I have to prove it on the track in Barcelona. I always like the Spanish GP, it feels like home and everyone makes me feel welcome. It’s a circuit I know very well and the RB20 should be fast on this type of track, so it’s up to us to do things well and bring home the result we’re capable of.“.
