Space | A lander carried by a Vulcan rocket is unlikely to reach the Moon

The lander was scheduled to arrive on the surface of the Moon at the end of February.

Towards The American lander traveling to the moon has run into serious trouble.

The Astrobotic company said on Monday that the lander has lost a critical amount of fuel, which means that it would not be able to land on the Moon.

“We are trying to stabilize the operation, but since this is the situation, we have prioritized the recovery of data and research information,” the company wrote in the message service in X.

“We are currently investigating which alternative job profiles might be viable at this time.”

Already earlier, Astrobotic reported that the lander's solar panels did not turn towards the Sun as desired. However, the lander was finally able to tilt in the right direction, but soon a fault was detected in the system producing thrust, which caused the lander to start losing fuel.

The lander was scheduled to arrive on the surface of the Moon at the end of February. If the attempt is successful, it would be the first landing of a private company's device on the Earth's orbiter's surface, Reuters reports.

Landers the load-bearing Vulcan Centaur rocket was launched into the sky from Florida, USA, on Monday morning at 9:18 a.m. Finnish time. HS showed a live broadcast from Cape Canaveral, Florida, provided by the news agency Reuters.

The rocket was jointly developed by the private aviation and arms companies Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

The Vulcan rocket is expected to promote the United States' ability to organize space flights and is expected to be a significant competitor to the rockets manufactured by the private company SpaceX. The United States plans to send people to the moon within this decade.

The rocket ash and DNA samples were also taken into space.

Among them are samples, among other things Star Trek -TV and movie series creator From Gene Roddenberry (1921–1991) and his wife From Majel Barrett-Roddenberry (1932–2008) and lieutenant Nyota Uhura from the one who performed in the movies and series From Nichelle Nichols (1932–2022).
