The state of Sao Paulo he left of receiving R$3.6 billion in complementary educational resources from the federal government for the year 2024 for failing to reduce inequalities among students in its network.
The amount is regulated in the new Fundeb (National Fund for the Development of Basic Education). The fund works as a way to promote actions that promote learning for the most vulnerable students.
To obtain resources from the mechanism, called VAAR (Student Value/Result Value), 5 requirements must be met:
- guarantee minimum participation of 80% of students in the Saeb (National Basic Education Assessment System);
- approve and execute Educational ICMS;
- provide school director positions with technical merit and performance criteria;
- have curricular references aligned with the BNCC (common national base); It is
- reduce socioeconomic and racial inequalities in education.
