Emotion overwhelmed the protesters in the Red Cross square when a minute of silence was observed for the victims of the conflict
Some 500 Ukrainians residing in the Region of Murcia participated this Friday in a concentration and subsequent demonstration through the streets of the city of Murcia in which they have called for the end of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
During the mobilization, the participants have shouted slogans against the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and against the invasion: “We do not want war”, the demonstrators proclaimed.
At one point in the march, the participants stopped in front of Murcia City Hall and sang the Ukrainian national anthem, which ended with applause in which passersby who were surprised by the march also participated.
The demonstrators have carried a large Ukrainian flag, about 10 meters long, and have carried banners asking for help from NATO and the international community to collaborate in seeking an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine. Finally, the march reached the Plaza de la Cruz Roja, where the Minister of Transparency, Antonio Sánchez Lorente, also joined. Emotion overwhelmed the demonstrators when a minute of silence was observed for the victims of the conflict.
This Friday, the regional Executive announced that it makes available to the central government “all the resources that are necessary to send to Ukraine; as any type of medical material or humanitarian aid, places to receive refugees and all the hospitals in the Region to urgently care for Ukrainians injured as a result of this war ».
A total of 7,433 Ukrainians reside in the Region, which places the Community as the fifth autonomous community where the most Ukrainians reside in the country. For its part, the Russian citizens who live in Murcia are 1,524, which puts the Murcian autonomy as the seventh within the country as a whole.
