Pit bull tied to a radiator in serious physical condition: a 31-year-old man reported in Rome, thanks to the intervention of condominiums
A 31 year old man was denounced by law enforcement for mistreatment of animals. After the alarm raised by some condominiums, the State Police officers of the VI Casilino District, together with those of the Rome Capital Police, intervened in a house in via Agostino Mitelli.
The officers found a pauper pit bull tied to a radiator with a short chain. He was undernourished and in very poor health. The 31-year-old man was already known to law enforcement for previous offenses.
Upon reaching the apartment, the policemen heard the animal’s aching moans. Initially, they rang the doorbell, but receiving no response from the owner, they requested the intervention of the godmen Fire fighters.
The latter have forced the door of home and found themselves in front of the heartbreaking scene. The poor pit bull was weak and confused, forced to the chain and having to move around that radiator. He was surrounded by his own needs.
The 31-year-old man tried to escape
During the rescue, the man returned home and when he saw the police and the fire brigade, he tempted to escape, aware of the gravity of the situation.
Has been blocked and reported for mistreatment of animals, a real crime punishable by law. The agents found that he was already undergoingobligation to sign for drug related offenses. Not only that, he occupied that apartment so abusive, without housing titles.
After a vet visit, it also turned out that the pit bull was not microchipped was not registered in the canine registry. At the moment it is in the hands of zoophile guards and persons authorized by ASL Roma 2.
The mistreatment of animals is a crime foreseen by thearticle 544 of the Criminal Code.
“Anyone who, through cruelty or without necessity, causes an injury to an animal or subjects it to torture or behavior or to fatigue or work that is unbearable due to its ethological characteristics is punished with imprisonment from three to eighteen months or with a fine of between 5,000 and 30,000 EUR”.
