The Swiss Gut-Behrami wins. Great test of the blue girls
Lara Gut-Behrami and Sofia Goggia; also in the second super-G of the World Cup the challenge was entirely between the Ticino and the Bergamo. In Sankt Moritz this time the 30-year-old Swiss prevailed, fantastic in every sector for attitude and style. Proof of great character for Gut-Behrami who had no fear and read bumps and trajectories well in a day characterized by poor visibility. A clear dominance until the descent of the blue Goggia, who at the finish line yielded only 18/100 starting in worse weather conditions than the Ticino.
Final handshake between the two great protagonists and fourth consecutive podium for Goggia, which went very close to a pokerissimo that would have been historic.
In the Olympic year, the sprinter from Bergamo confirms that she is already in an amazing state of form: she keeps the leading bib of the specialty (tied with Gut-Behrami) and climbs to second place in the general classification of the World Cup.
After the performances of Gut-Behrami and Goggia, another race took place on the Swiss track of the 2017 World Cup. Starting with that of the American Mikaela Shiffrin, third but on the defensive and 1 ”18 late. On a difficult day due to weather conditions, Italy placed four athletes in the top ten. Sixth Elena Curtoni, who on the Swiss track won her first career podium, eighth Federica Brignone and ninth Marta Bassino.
In Val d’Isère, on the other hand, the men’s giant slalom is underway. Halfway through the race, the Swiss Marco Odermatt commands, fifth partial place for Luca De Aliprandini (silver at the World Championships in Cortina), thirteenth Riccardo Tonetti. Second heat at 1pm. Tomorrow in Sankt Moritz the second super-G race, starting at 10.30.
