Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed that his country has spent about $500 billion over the past seven years to improve the infrastructure, which included the construction of completely new roads and service areas, noting that the infrastructure includes everything from airports, roads, and others.
On the sidelines of his speech at the African Export-Import Bank meeting in Cairo, Sisi added that Egypt needed about 30 billion dollars (200 billion pounds) to reclaim and cultivate one million acres that were uncultivable, to achieve food self-sufficiency in light of the global crisis that began with the Corona virus and is swelled by Ukrainian crisis.
The Egyptian president indicated that the first obstacle was providing the necessary funding for an infrastructure that achieves what we dream of, stressing that security and stability are necessary to provide an attractive climate for investment, and that these two elements are the basis for any appropriate change for countries.
Al-Sisi said that comparisons always give an opportunity to learn about data and conclusions, noting that global crises such as the Corona pandemic revealed much of what African countries suffer, especially with regard to infrastructure.
He stressed that mechanisms and concrete steps must be put in place to realize the dream of the African continent in changing reality, and work to implement infrastructure projects to achieve integration between its countries, including the presence of a train connecting them during the coming period, to facilitate and increase joint work opportunities.
He stressed that the Egyptian state is striving, and taking tangible steps with African countries, for cooperation and partnership, and will spare no effort in helping its African brothers if there are possibilities for assistance.
