Crime via Poma: case reopens, witnesses heard
The Rome prosecutor has reopened the investigation into the murder of Simonetta Cesaroni, the 20-year-old killed on 7 August 1990 with 29 stab wounds. The newspaper ‘Il Foglio’ writes it. The prosecutors would have restarted the preliminary investigation by listening to some witnesses of the time, including the then manager of the mobile squad of Rome, Antonio Del Greco. The latter, together with Massimo Lugli, wrote a book on the story two years ago.
“This is not the usual corridor whispers courthouse but of a judicial mechanism that has already started and is marching at full speed “, the newspaper writes that the investigation is directed by the prosecutor Ilaria Calò, “the same magistrate who supported the accusation against Raniero Busco, the ex-boyfriend of the victim sentenced to 24 years in 2011 and acquitted in the two successive stages of trial”. The prosecutor “has already questioned several witnesses and others, in great secrecy, will be summoned to Piazzale Clodio in the following days. The developments could be totally unexpected. Perhaps, this time, the track is the right one”, reads the article signed by Massimo Lugli.
