It seems that Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva, 39 years old, the English Chelsea player, is determined to continue his professional career, after spending 4 seasons with the Blues, ending this summer, as Chelsea management informed him not to renew his contract.
Many people thought that Silva might make a decision to retire due to his age, after a busy career during which he played for Milan, Porto, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, but he disappointed them, because he is still wanted in his country, especially from the Fluminense club, which witnessed his beginnings before his European adventure.
Silva has not played for any Brazilian club since the winter of 2009, when he joined Italian club Milan.
The newspaper “Globo Sport” reported that Silva, who is from Rio de Janeiro, reached an agreement in the last hours with representatives of his old club, Fluminense, to play for him from the middle of this year, 2024, until the summer of 2026. The newspaper said that Fluminense sent representatives to London to inform the player of the details of the contract. .
Since there are 4 matches remaining until the end of the English Premier League, Silva may stay until the last match on May 19, and the Fluminense administration hopes to present Thiago Silva at the Maracana Stadium, as it did before with his compatriot Marcelo, the former Real Madrid star.
Silva’s wife is scheduled to remain in England with her two sons, who play in the Chelsea academy, and the newspaper indicated that Silva agreed with the Brazilian club not to talk about the deal until Chelsea’s last match in the league, out of respect for the London club.
Silva, who was born on September 22, 1984, had previously sent an emotional message to the Stamford Bridge fans, saying: Chelsea means a lot to me. I came with the goal of staying for one year, but it ended with me, my wife, and my two children staying for four years. And by the way, my two children are playing here, and it is a great reason for me. It is my pleasure and pride to be part of the Chelsea family, and I hope to return again, but in another role, because my love for the club and for you is indescribable. Thank you all.
