The S. Maria del Castello Foundation in Carpenedolo, in the province of Brescia, is ready to give light to two new innovative centers dedicated to welcoming people with Alzheimer’s and ALS. The progress of the “Villaggio Insieme” project was illustrated at a press conference in the presence, among others, of Claudio Vito Sileo, general manager of Ats Brescia who explains: “It is important to consider that people with ALS do not need only the Nemo clinical center located in Brescia and dedicated to the acute phase of the disease, but also to intermediate assistance between the home and the clinical center. The RSA lends itself to this task and specific interventions have been made here at the S. Maria del Castello Foundation for these patients. It is important to have a structure that is up to the specific needs of patients “.
A fundamental feature also when it comes to Alzheimer’s with different needs: “Alzheimer’s is unfortunately a very emerging disease – continues Sileo – and RSAs must have departments equipped not only for the safety of patients, but also to offer an environment as familiar as possible in order to quell those impulses that the disease can give by generating situations of anxiety “.
