Russian Defense Minister Shoigu announced the start of a check of the combat readiness of the Pacific Fleet
A sudden check began in the Pacific Fleet – it was raised on alarm and began to be brought to the highest degree of combat readiness. This was stated at the meeting by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, his words are quoted in Telegram– channel of the defense department.
The head of the Ministry of Defense called the main goal of the test, which is led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy (Navy) Nikolai Evmenov, building up the ability to solve problems to repel the aggression of a potential enemy. The verification assumes that the fleet will carry out missile launches to destroy naval strike groups and ground targets of a mock enemy, and long-range aviation will also be involved.
“As part of the inspection, the senior control groups should ensure the development of options for the use of interspecific groupings, taking into account the development and equipping with modern means of defeating the enemy, the use of new forms and methods of troop operations,” the minister said.
He instructed at all stages of the inspection to ensure compliance with security requirements, the safety of weapons and ammunition, and also to exclude cases of damage to state property.
In December, Shoigu reported on the special exercises of Russia’s nuclear forces. The Russian military then worked out the tasks of delivering a massive retaliatory nuclear strike, he said, stressing that they were practicing striking in response to the use of weapons of mass destruction by the enemy.
