Seven people died in the crash of a Romanian IAR 330 Puma rescue helicopter over the Black Sea. This was announced by the Romanian Ministry of Defense on Wednesday, March 2.
“Seven military personnel died in a plane crash involving an IAR 330 Puma helicopter tonight. In addition to the five crew members, two rescuers from the Romanian Navy also boarded,” Defense Minister Vasile Dyncu said.
He also added that the crew and rescuers were heading to search for the MiG-21 Lancer aircraft that crashed over the Black Sea. Only the pilot was on board, they are looking for him.
According to Dyncu, search and rescue operations continue. According to the latest data, before disappearing from the radar, the pilot of the MiG-21 Lancer reported on adverse weather conditions and was ordered to return to base.
Earlier, on February 22, two servicemen died in the crash of a Mi-17 helicopter of the Venezuelan armed forces. The commander of the aircraft and the co-pilot managed to survive: they were hospitalized in one of the hospitals in the city of Barquisimeto. The head of state, Nicolas Maduro, ordered an investigation to establish the causes of the disaster.
