Sensational: Red Bull cancels special liveries to avoid adding weight to the RB20, it’s a crisis

In 2023 the Red Bull had launched the competition dedicated to fans to give the chance to inspire three special liveries for the RB19 shown at the Miami, United States and Miami GPs. In 2024, however, the dates reserved for this contest were Silverstone, Singapore and Texas (again). In Great Britain, Red Bull raced with red inserts on the livery, but at Marina Bay and Austin the RB20 will be identical in terms of livery to all the other stages excluding Silverstone.

The Milton Keynes team, in fact, has communicated that due to the extra weight that would have been required to use more paint It has been decided to cancel the two special fan-inspired liveries in both Singapore and the United States following the three-week break planned across September and October.

This decision confirms the technical difficulties which is going through Red Bull, who lost the lead in the Constructors’ championship in Azerbaijan. McLaren leads the teams’ standings with a 20-point advantage over Red Bull and Max Verstappen still has a 59-point advantage over Lando Norris.

In Texas, Red Bull is scheduled to debut the latest package of updates studied after the analyses carried out in recent weeks with on-track tests during the race weekends in light of the correlation problems found in the wind tunnel. The decision to cancel the special liveries is indicative of how serious the situation is at Red Bull as regards the defence of the two world titles, one of which already seems to be compromised as Helmut Marko himself admitted at the end of the Baku GP.
