The candidate of the Let's Keep Making History coalition, made up of Morena, PT and PVEM, Claudia Sheninbaumassured that he won the first presidential debate and that he will also win the election, but he trusted that the scheme of the second will be better.
I emerged victorious from the debate and I am happy, said the former head of Government of Mexico City, who hoped that in the Second Presidential Debate the format will improve so that the candidates can present their ideas.
“I think it can be improved, but in any case I feel happy with how I handled the debate and we are going to win. Not only did we win the debate, but I am convinced that we are going to win the election andwith great responsibility, we will direct the destiny of the nation“he declared in a radio interview.
Claudia Sheinbaum said that the format of the First Presidential Debate It left a lot to be desired, although he admitted that it was not a surprise because the candidates and the candidate had the information on how it was structured.
“And I'm not criticizing the drivers in any way, but rather I think there is a lack of prior definition, that is, I think they should have been more general questions and then space for debate,” he specified.
“But by asking the questions so specific, there was no time in a minute and a half to answer the specific question and, at the same time, present the general proposal”
He pointed out that this exercise left experiences to be learned for the next debate. “I think there is a lack of space to be able to present our proposals,” he told Joaquín López Dóriga.
“I think the scheme left a lot to be desired and the drivers did it well (…) but the other part is that, for example, the clock was kind of far away from us. While you're looking at the camera, I don't know, I concentrate to see the camera and the clocks were a little far away for us”.
We are going to say that we have to learn for the next debate, Sheinbaum added, and that it went well for us.
“I feel satisfied with the performance, I think they clearly saw that there are two proposals and also two ways of behaving in the face of a circumstance such as a debate,” she noted.
He stressed that according to the telephone polls, he won the first presidential debate but he hoped that the format of the second will change to be able to express the proposals more clearly, without such specific questions.
“I think that if the format is softened a little, it will give an opportunity to contrast the main proposal, which is ours, that of second place and that of third place,” said the candidate.
He mentioned that the format of the debate was a one-minute question and then in the time box again other questions, and then at the end another three questions, with 40 seconds to answer. When there are specific questions, well, one cannot not answer, he added.
Second Presidential Debate
The second debate between the candidates Xóchitl Gálvez and Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as the candidate Jorge Álvarez Máynez, will take place on Sunday, April 28, at 8:00 p.m.
This time, the setting will be the Churubusco Studios, where they will have the opportunity to present their proposals to the public under the theme of “The route to the development of Mexico.”
Format B, designed for this debate, will address topics such as the economy, employment, inflation, poverty, inequality, climate change and sustainable development.
