Solomon Chertorivsky, candidate for the Head of Government of Mexico City for the Citizen Movement, presented his strategy to address the water problem.
He mentioned that water is an issue that has been neglected for the last 30 years in Mexico Citysince this resource, both in aquifers, dams and subsoil, is being depleted due to climate change and human action.
He pointed out that part of this problem has been generated by the lack of interest of previous governments, where the public budget to address water has been reduced and there is no clear policy that helps protect the vital liquid.
“We need to talk about the crisis seriously, we need a well-designed, well-budgeted and, above all, well-executed policy,” he commented.
In this context, Chertorisvski pointed out that to solve the water problem in Mexico City he has 6 proposals that They contemplate various programs and measures to take care of water in CDMX.

Solomon Chertorivsky, candidate for the Head of Government of Mexico Cityemphasized the importance of the program “Zero Leak” for Address the problem of water loss in pipes, highlighting that it is not only about avoiding physical leaks, but also about eradicating government negligence in this regard.
To achieve this goal, Chertorivski announced a significant investment of 17 billion pesos during his administration, in order to recover 80% of the lost water. In addition, he highlighted the use of technology to rehabilitate damaged pipes without causing negative impacts on the city.
The candidate also highlighted the importance of water reuse, proposing the construction of 50 new treatment plants and purification to increase capacity and allocate water to the sectors that need it most. In this sense, he stated that they would invest, 3050 million pesos in his government to double water treatment capacity.
During his speech, Solomon Chertorivsky highlighted the importance of investing in reforestation and protecting aquifers as part of its comprehensive plan to address the water crisis. In relation to the promotion of a water culture, he mentioned the program “Water Culture”, which will include educational initiatives that promote forest reforestation. This program will involve school activities aimed at planting trees and monitoring them, with the aim of raising awareness among the population from an early age about the importance of conserving this vital resource.
