The psychologist who treated the young Josh Primo filed a lawsuit against the promising basketball player for undress in front of her repeatedly and another against the San Antonio Spurs for not acting in this situation.
The Spurs, who fired Primo last week without explaining their reasons, and the player himself have rejected the accusations made by psychologist Hillary Cauthen in the complaint.

‘He undressed nine times’
Cauthen’s 40-year-old civil suit was filed in Bexar County, Texas, against Primo for “several charges, including repeated indecent exposure,” his attorney Tony Buzbee said at a news conference.
The complaint claims that the escort, 19 years old, was exhibited nine times during treatment sessions developed since December 2021.
According to Buzbee, Cauthen first alerted Spurs general manager Brian Wright in January 2022. The psychologist warned Wright again on March 21, advising him that she felt uncomfortable working alone with the player.
“Instead of acting on Dr. Cauthen’s reports, the Spurs ignored her complaints, hoping to cover up Primo’s actions,” the lawsuit said.
“The club was willing to sacrifice Dr. Cauthen to keep the man they hoped would one day be a star player.”
“Once Primo’s conduct surfaced in the public sphere, the Spurs were forced to act and separate from him,” said an attorney for Cauthen, whose contract was not renewed by the franchise in August 2022.
According to Hillary Cauthen, the Spurs knew about Josh Primo’s misconduct as early as January 2022.

‘I was looking for help to deal with a trauma’
On October 28, the Spurs unexpectedly cut Primo, whom they had chosen with number 12 in the 2021 Draft, without explaining the reasons.
The escort was considered one of the main promises for the future of the Spurs, a franchise doomed to a long process of reconstruction under the direction of veteran coach Gregg Popovich.
After his dismissal, Primo assured that he was seeking mental help to deal with a trauma he suffered. This Thursday, his lawyer denied that the player committed improper actions voluntarily. The allegations are “complete fabrication, gross embellishment and even outright fantasy,” said attorney William J. Briggs II.
“Josh Primo never intentionally exposed himself to her or anyone else and was not even aware that his private parts were visible outside of his training shorts,” she claimed.
The Spurs also issued a brief statement following the lawsuit. “We do not agree with the accuracy of the facts, details and timeline presented today. Although we would like to share more information, we will let the legal process unfold,” said RC Buford, CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. .
