Almost two months after the last round held, Superbike returns to action with one of the most anticipated and appreciated events: the Misano round. The Romagna Riviera hosts the series derivatives for the fourth stage of this season, thus opening the summer of the championship and resuming activity on the track, which has been stopped since April.
Alvaro Bautista presents himself as championship leader, after a complicated start to the season which he however managed to straighten out by going to the top of the overall standings with a 6 point advantage over Toprak Razgatlioglu, second. The Turk, who has joined the BMW team since this year, is showing himself at ease on the M 1000 RR and is giving the reigning world champion a hard time.
Nicolò Bulega will also be worth keeping an eye on, who arrives at his home round in third place in the championship and with a 14 point gap from the leader and teammate. The rookie will aim to return to the victory that has been missing since Race 1 at Phillip Island and shorten his lead in the championship. Also pay attention to Andrea Iannone, who appears for the first time on his home track with the Goeleven team’s Ducati and the objective will obviously be to do well in front of his fans. Less high targets for Danilo Petrucci, who returns after the bad injury he suffered in training and is ready to return to action on the Barni team’s Panigale V4R.
Kawasaki and Yamaha looking for redemption: mixed performances from Alex Lowes and Andrea Locatelli, who by now know the ZX-10RR and the R1 respectively. On the other hand, Axel Bassani struggled, in his first year with the “verdona” and Jonathan Rea, extremely in difficulty with the blue bike of the Iwata manufacturer. The Venetian will want to play the home round card to get back on top and the six-time world champion will aim to try to turn his season around after the long stop of the championship, full of breaks but also of tests.
The entire Misano round will be broadcast on Sky Sport MotoGP (Sky channel 208) and the races can be followed live on TV8, as usual. Below are all the times of the Misano round, both on pay-TV and free-to-air.
