The Sawab Center warned against the electronic recruitment of extremist groups through electronic games, warning that despite the increasing exploitation of some of these games as a means to spread extremism, some may be lenient in leaving their children in front of these games without follow-up.
In recent tweets, the center shed light on the danger of not monitoring children while they play electronic games, citing the views of counter-terrorism researcher Alex Newhouse, who stated, “Games have become a platform that provides an infrastructure through which extremists spread their hateful ideology.”
The Sawab Center pointed out the importance of paying attention to the fact that “it may not be just a game, as followers of misguidance exploit violent video games to infiltrate and recruit young people,” calling on parents to “get closer to their children and make sure that these games will not lead them to the path of extremism and violence.” .
The Center also alerted to the attempts of the followers of misguidance, with their rhetoric, to manipulate facts and mislead minds in order to control societies, stressing that with our vigilance and solidarity, we will be able to thwart their plans.
He called for contributing to reducing the danger of followers of misguidance, by reporting extremist propaganda on social networks.
Since its launch in July 2015, the Sawab Center has supported the efforts of governments, communities, and individual voices to proactively engage in countering extremism online by promoting positive alternative narratives of hate and violence.
