Santa Fe is firm, determined, excited and playing well, with its sights set on the star of the first half of 2024. In the middle of the rain, Pablo Peirano’s team overcame one of the most difficult matches in group B, they won well to La Equidad and, with a perfect campaign in two games, is at the head of his home run.
The match, which looked very interesting, had an unexpected protagonist: a downpour of enormous proportions that ended the visibility of the surroundings of the Techo stadium, which tested the drainage of one of the best fields in the country, that of the stadium of Ceiling, and that raised fears for the normal development of the match. It was a downpour that had not been seen in this area of southern Bogotá for a long time.
With less water, both in the environment and on the field, Santa Fe started better in the second stage. Pablo Peirano, the ‘cardinal’ coach, adjusted lines with the change of Yilmar Velásquez for Juan Pablo Zuluaga and with that modification, the team regained control and gained brand.
Hugo Rodallega gave the first warning in a free kick that, at first, did not seem to have any major danger, but it gained speed and almost complicated goalkeeper Washington Ortega, who had to dive down to save the ball.
The goal that opened the way to victory for Santa Fe
A couple of minutes later, at 6 minutes into the complement, Santa Fe found the advantage. Again, Rodallega was the protagonist, this time as an assist, to put in a magnificent pass that left the Uruguayan Agustín Rodríguez ready to define before the departure of Ortega and score the 0-1.
The rain returned, not with the same force as the beginning, but with enough intensity to make the 22 players uncomfortable. Alexis García tried to refresh the attack with the departure of Amaury Torralvo and José Lloreda and the entry of Brayan Fernández and Kevin David Salazar. Peirano had already looked for speed in the attack and took out the author of the goal, to put in Jersson González.
The court and the ball were more than given so that whoever tried a mid-distance shot would gain an important advantage. The one he tried was Santa Fe, and he got all the juice in the world out of it. After circulating the ball around the local area, Francisco Chaverra saw central defender Marcelo Ortiz, one of the figures of the match, free. And the Argentine hung the ball in the corner. Great goal!
