Happy start of the year
The Formula 1 season will start on March 2 with the Bahrain Grand Prix, which will open the hunt for the 2024 title. However, at Sainz's house there has already been a way to celebrate even before the start of the new year. Carlos Sainz Sr., father of the Ferrari driver of the same name, took home his fourth career victory at the Dakar rally.
Also attending the coronation of one of the strongest and most successful rally drivers in history in Saudi Arabia was Sainz Jr., who took a last minute private flight to be able to celebrate his father's achievement in person. A family celebration that hopefully will be the preamble for further successes in the Circus by the #55, the only one capable of breaking the Red Bulls' hegemony of victories last year.
Family pride
“2024 has started well and now we have to continue like this for the Sainz family – the Ferrari driver joked with the site Autosport.comcommenting on his father's feat – you can't imagine the pride of a father, of a husband, of everything. Here are all his best friends, not just me, and there are all the people who love him and encourage him all the time”. As happens in F1 with roles reversed, Sainz Jr. did not give up on giving something 'technical' advice to the parent before his departure for the Dakar.
“I asked him not to push hard every day because in the end the Dakar is an endurance race and he likes to push a lot – commented the winner of the 2023 Singapore GP – he had to fight a lot to win, but he was smarter than anyone else and managed the race as only he can. His Dakar was perfect, he did the smartest Dakar I've ever seen him do in my life. He handled it perfectly and showed that he has experience“.
