A positive day for Ferrari, which started the 2022 season well. The Red, with the new F1-75, proved to be fast (but it means little on the first day of testing) and above all reliable, considering Charles Leclerc’s 80 laps in the morning and Carlos Sainz’s 73 laps in the afternoon. Third time for the Spaniard, who checked all the car’s functions over an extended mileage – so far the F1-75 had only covered the 15 km of the “demo event” on February 18 plus the 100 km of yesterday’s “filming day” – and got acquainted with the car.
These are the words of Sainz, who will shoot tomorrow in the morning. The # 55 is naturally more happy with the consistency of performance than with the third time in the standings: “Today was the first time I was able to get in the car for a full program unlike previous occasions when we basically had shakedowns. We finally got to push a bit and started learning something about these cars. The ranking leaves the time it finds at the moment but it was very positive to be able to accumulate a good number of laps and start getting serious behind the wheel. We still have a lot of work to do but it was already possible today perceive differences compared to last year and I don’t think it will take long to get used to these new cars. Certainly the most difficult thing will be to find the last tenths but that is precisely the most intriguing challenge. However, this is not the goal of the Barcelona test as there will be another session before the opening race. It was a good first day and I can’t wait for tomorrow“.
