General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, discussed with Catherine De Paul, Executive Director of the European Union Agency “Europol”, ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the European Organization in the police and security fields.
This came during his meeting yesterday in Abu Dhabi with the European official, where they discussed a number of issues related to the development of security cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the European Organization in the areas of exchanging information, expertise, training and combating crime in all its forms.
His Highness also signed with the European official an agreement to loan a liaison officer between the UAE Ministry of Interior and the European Union Agency “Europol” in order to enhance cooperation between the two parties in the field of law enforcement and to complement the constructive cooperation between the two parties and the strategic cooperation agreement signed between them.
The meeting and signing of the agreement were attended by Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of the Security and Ports Affairs Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, Jean Philippe, Deputy Executive Director of Europol, Peter van Osler, Head of Operations at the European Counter-Terrorism Center, and Antonio Ortiz, Advisor to the CEO. Major Mosbeh Al-Saadi, the police attache of the UAE to France, and a number of Ministry of Interior officers.
