Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) “Orion” flew more than 40 times to attack terrorists in Syria, reports RIA News with reference to an informed source. Since 2019, the Russian military has used two such unmanned aircraft.
“During the entire period of time, two vehicles made more than 80 sorties in Syria, of which more than 40 were for the use of weapons at terrorist targets,” the publication says. As part of a combat mission, the drones could deliver several strikes against the militants.

The source said that the Orions also conducted reconnaissance and illumination of ground targets for aviation and artillery. X-UAV guided missiles, as well as corrected and guided aerial bombs of 20, 50 and 100 kilograms were used to deliver the strikes. In addition, OFAB-100 high-explosive fragmentation bombs were used with high accuracy several times.
Earlier it became known that tests of a drone with an on-board radar station for reconnaissance of ground targets began in Russia. The unmanned vehicle for radar and radio-technical reconnaissance was created by the Kronstadt company on the basis of the Orion reconnaissance and strike drone.
