Russian attack Marin commented on Halla-aho’s demand for Western military intervention: “This was harshly said by the chairman of the committee.”

Jussi Halla-aho, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said in an interview with HS that Western countries should intervene militarily to stop Russia.

Prime minister Sanna Marin (sd) on Tuesday took a position on the chairman of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee Jussi Halla-ahon (ps) a statement calling for Western military intervention to stop Russia.

“This was hard said from the chairman of the committee. I believe that Parliament, for its part, will then assess whether this has been done, ”Marin told reporters after the parliamentary party meeting. The Prime Minister was asked whether Halla-aho’s position represented Finland’s position.

Halla-aho said earlier in the day to HS that it believed that Western intervention would soon be inevitable, so it would be better to do it sooner rather than later.

“The West will not tolerate the situation getting worse,” Halla-aho estimates. He pointed out that as the number of casualties grows, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Western countries to keep an eye on the continuation of the war from the point of view of moral and public pressure.

Halla-aho did not want to comment on the details of a possible military operation. He notes that intervention is most likely to be decided by the UN and the military alliance NATO.

Halla-aho wrote on Twitter an English-language call to stop Russian troops “before we have a new Grozny and Aleppo in the middle of Europe”. In addition to the UN and NATO, he linked the European Commission’s Twitter account to his message.

Halla-aho said he was aware that some might consider his view radical, but he was only trying to analyze the situation.

“It has happened here that many of my previous views have been considered radical at first. I already said a few weeks agothat negotiations with Russia are futile in this situation and could provide arms assistance to Ukraine. “

Halla-aho is the former chairman of the Basic Finns. He rose to chair the Foreign Affairs Committee in early February when Mika Niikko (ps) had to leave due to criticism of the committee chair’s Twitter post. Niikko had suggested that the war be prevented by the French president Emmanuel Macronin or someone else should “go public and say that Ukraine will not join NATO”.
