“No news, no contacts, nothing”. In short, no trace of Joseph Mifsud. So the Swiss lawyer Stephan Rohcontacted by Adnkronos, answers the question of where the enigmatic Maltese professor, a key figure at the center of the international intrigue of the Russiagate and whose traces have been lost since the end of October 2017. Roh was Mifsud’s lawyer, the last, perhaps, to have seen him in person, in May 2018. Roh is aware of the indictment decided by the pm of Prosecutor of Agrigento
for the charge of embezzlement. The “crazy expenses”, says lawyer Roh, “I have read about it in the media, but I have no news about Mifsud”. Roh also denies the rumors that the Maltese professor is hiding in Russia. “In Russia? I have no information about that,” he says.
The story, as Adnkronos wrote in recent days in reporting the indictment, concerns theimproper use that Mifsud allegedly made of the credit cards of the University Consortium of Agrigento. The story dates back to 2009, when Joseph Mifsud was appointed president of the University Consortium of Agrigento. The prosecutor Luigi Patrinaggio and the adjunct Salvatore Vella, who coordinated the investigation, with the prosecutor Giuli Bisso, contest a series of costs against the mysterious Maltese professor, to whom it was not even possible to deliver the request for indictment , for a total of almost 50 thousand euros.
Mifsud literally disappeared from the radar in October 2017, when US investigators investigating the Russiagate affair (the alleged and never proven ties between Donald Trump and Moscow), announced his involvement in the affair. Since then, he has been searched everywhere, in his apartment in Rome, at his former campus at the Link University of Romein London, where he had also taught.
Two years ago, lawyer Roh, interviewed by Adnkronos, said he did not know where his client was.. “I don’t know where he is, the last time I heard from him was last spring, through a third person”he just said. To understand where Mfsud had ended up, two years ago the former US Minister of Justice William Barr and the prosecutor John Durham, who conducted the counter-investigation on Russiagate on behalf of former President Donald Trump, flew to Rome to ask for the help from our intelligence.
On 13 Nov 2019 Mifsud sent an audio to Adnkronos
with his voice, in which he denied any link with the intelligence services of the countries involved in Russiagate.
