Since the 1950s, the United States has been steadily pursuing a course towards the use of outer space for military operations and the deployment of strike weapons systems in it in order to achieve military superiority up to the achievement of total domination in space. About it stated Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the US claims on testing the anti-satellite system.
She stressed that Washington and its allies are carrying out large-scale programs to develop weapons systems designed to use force or threat by force in space, from space or against outer space, and are also testing the latest attack weapons of various types in orbit without any warning. …
Zakharova recalled that on February 20, 2008, the United States used the SM-3 interceptor missile to destroy the American satellite USA-193. At the same time, she noted that Moscow, unlike Washington, “did not enshrine in its doctrinal documents the task of achieving military superiority in space.” At the same time, Russia confirms its readiness to discuss space security issues with the United States, she added.
The representative of the Foreign Ministry also stressed that the tests of the Ministry of Defense, as a result of which the inoperative Russian Tselina-D spacecraft, which had been in orbit since 1982, was carried out in strict accordance with international law and were not directed against anyone. This event was carried out with the aim of preventing sudden damage to the country’s security in the space sphere and on Earth by existing and prospective space assets of other states.
Earlier, the White House accused Russia of “neglect of security” due to the test of an anti-satellite missile. The administration of US President Joe Biden also promised that they would seek an answer with the allies to these actions of Moscow.
