The show “The last old man on Earth”, taken from the book of the same name, is scheduled for Wednesday 17 November at the Ostello Bello in via Balbi.
Genoa – What do Davide Toffolo and Remo Remotti have in common? What binds a musician obsessed with comics to one of the most original voices in Italian culture? Born from the admiration and curiosity of the voice of the Band I Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti towards the famous Roman outsider, the book “The last old man on Earth” was then transformed into a show that will be staged on Wednesday at 9pm at the Hostel Bello di via Balbi 38. An event by Pioggia Rossa Dischi in which Toffolo will also be accompanied by the great musician Adriano Viterbini.
For those who do not remember Remo Remotti, just go back to the Freud of Nanni Moretti’s “Sogni d’oro” or the unforgettable “Roma addio”, a poem in which he portrays the vices and tics of the Eternal City. Like an Italian Bukowski, irresistible performer, the actor and poet offers Toffolo the opportunity to present himself in a new role as an entertainer in addition to his usual singer mask. “Bourgeois childhood, the youth of a cosmopolitan painter, the passion for poetry and for the women who inspire it, the vice of performance and the belated discovery of cinema: every choice in Remotti’s life seems to be dictated by passion”, says Toffolo .
True innovator in the field of comics e among the major Italian authors of graphic novels, Toffolo has numerous works to his credit: “Pasolini”, “Carnera” and “Il re bianco” are among the most representative titles of his vast production. In the pages of the new volume, which magically come to life during the show between verses, drawings and music, Toffolo has taken some of the stories lived, written and dreamed of by the Roman artist and has enhanced their narrative strength and image. And so the power of the words of the “last old man on Earth” and the drawings of the “masked singer” come together in a journey into the imagination of the twentieth century, between psychoanalysis, art history and unbridled love of freedom.
This year Toffolo took the stage of the Sanremo Festival with Extraliscio. “It was wonderful to witness that sea of warmth from my and their public, regardless of an exhibition that I still consider wonderful today” concludes the singer-songwriter “it was also a way to meet the world of the ballroom that I didn’t know very much, but that I felt similar ».
