The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the extension of the driver’s license expired in 2022 and 2023
The validity period of driver’s licenses, which ends this year, has been extended by three years. This was announced on Monday, March 20, by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, whose words are quoted by TASS.
“I would like to note that the validity period of all Russian driver’s licenses, which expired in 2022 or expires this year, has been extended for three years,” the minister said, speaking at an expanded board of the department.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that over the past year, the number of deaths and injuries in accidents in Russia has decreased by five percent.
Since October 2022, the traffic police in test mode has allowed drivers to present a driver’s license in a new way – through the State Services Auto application. As the head of the inspection, Mikhail Chernikov, said, in order for the digital version of the document to become fully legal, work is now underway on the relevant amendments to the legislation.
In January 2023, it became known about the launch of a new feature for Russian drivers. The Ministry of Digital Transformation said that a digital copy of the driver’s license appeared in the State Services Auto application, which can be presented to traffic police officers for verification.
