Gavrilov: the liquidation of mercenaries in Ukraine is happening faster than their replenishment
The number of foreign mercenaries in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is decreasing, told in a conversation with Izvestia, the head of the Russian delegation at the negotiations in Vienna on military security and arms control, Konstantin Gavrilov.
He explained that at the beginning of the Russian special military operation (SVO), the number of mercenaries rapidly increased and reached up to 20 thousand. “But even then the process of their escape from the NWO zone began. Now their number, apparently, is not increasing,” the diplomat said.
Gavrilov said that Kyiv is actively helping to reduce the number of mercenaries by sending them on “meat assaults.” The Russian military, in turn, successfully eliminates the fighters of the International Legion. In addition, some mercenaries break contracts with the Ukrainian Armed Forces without receiving payments, the diplomat added.
Earlier, Gavrilov said that the West should think about the consequences of transferring long-range weapons to Kyiv. He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Western states that they were densely populated.
