The media mogul Rupert Murdoch has married for the fifth time. This was revealed by the British newspaper The Sun, owned by Murdoch, which published photos of the 93-year-old Australian billionaire together with his 67-year-old wife, retired molecular biologist Elena Zhukova. The ceremony took place last Saturday at her vineyard in Bel-Air, California.
The new Mrs Murdoch wore an elegant white dress and clutched a small bouquet of lily of the valley flowers. Murdoch wore a dark suit, a white shirt and a patterned yellow tie.
The Australian tycoon was for decades at the helm of Fox Corporation and News Corp, two media companies with publications that include the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and Fox News.
Murdoch, who has a net worth of $9.77 billion according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, announced in November 2023 that he would step down as chairman of both organizations, handing the reins to his son Lachlan. Murdoch claimed at the time that he would continue to play an “active role” in News Corp and still serves as chairman emeritus of the two companies.
According to the New York Times, he reportedly started dating Zhukova last summer after meeting at a party hosted by one of his ex-wives, Chinese businesswoman Wendi Deng. The couple announced their engagement in March.
Murdoch, who has six children, was recently married to former supermodel Jerry Hall. The couple divorced in 2022. In March 2023, Murdoch proposed to Ann Lesley Smith but the engagement was called off two weeks later. His other ex-spouses are Australian flight attendant Patricia Booker, Scottish journalist Anna Mann.
Zhukova was previously married to Russian oil billionaire Alexander Zhukov, while their daughter, Dasha, was married to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich until 2017.
