Breaking news: Valentino Rossi and the Belgium-based Team WRT have just announced that Rossi will be in the 2022 GTWCE will take office at the wheel of a Team WRT Audi R8 LMS.
Team WRT was proud to announce that Valentino Rossi will join their driver line-up in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS for the entire 2022 season: “Will be a nine-time world champion and one of the world’s most famous sporting icons Starting a professional career on four wheels with our Belgian team, which is the reigning champion in the Fanatec GTWCE Powered by AWS (overall, Endurance and Sprint).”
Rossi will compete in both the Endurance and Sprint Cups, in an Audi R8 LMS with the well-known number 46. His teammates in both series will be announced at a later date. Rossi already tested with Team WRT in Valencia last December, and so a collaboration has emerged.
Team owner Vincent Vosse: “I’m sure a lot of fans will be as happy as we are to see Vale embark on a new career on four wheels and do so in GT, with Team WRT and Audi. The test in was very positive for both parties, both in terms of the technical feedback and the way of working. We would like to welcome Vale to the WRT family and I am sure we have an exciting experience ahead of us.”
Rossi’s reaction: “I am delighted to start a full Fanatec GTWCE season with Team WRT. It’s no secret that I’ve always been a big fan of car racing, it’s probably no surprise that after my MotoGP career I’m now starting on four wheels. Team WRT is the perfect match I was looking for and I can’t wait to start this new adventure in GTWCE with them.”
