The systems associated with the introduction of QR codes to combat the spread of COVID-19 have already shown their effectiveness abroad, said Natalya Pshenichnaya, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, transfers REN TV.
According to her, the widespread use of vaccination certificates will help ensure the safety of Russians, as well as achieve herd immunity. The expert cited China as an example, where these codes were first introduced. The QR code system worked in the WeChat application, through which the Chinese make payments, travel on public transport and “cannot live without.”
“This helped to fight the pandemic, prevent unauthorized exits to the city during the lockdown and, of course, helped to track the chain of contacts up to the sixth,” a representative of the department assessed the measures against coronavirus using the example of China.
According to the specialist, two problems are now being solved in Russia at once: the fight against the pandemic and the increase in the number of infected. “The latest experience of European countries proves that admission by QR codes to public places, transport – it justifies itself. Because it blocks the spread of the coronavirus, ”she explained.
A bill was introduced to the State Duma, according to which Russians will be able to visit places of mass events, cultural institutions, cafes and retail outlets with the presentation of a QR code. To access these territories, they can also use a certificate stating that they have had COVID-19 or a medical withdrawal from vaccination.
