Romanian President Klaus Iohannis ratified the entry law of Sweden and Finland into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the president’s office announced Friday.
On Wednesday, both houses of the Romanian parliament unanimously approved the law.
Last May, Sweden and Finland applied to join the alliance. Before that, the two countries were adopting a policy of neutrality.
It is noteworthy that the German parliament (Bundestag) and the Council of States (Bundesrat) have already approved the two countries’ accession to NATO.
Romania has been a member of NATO since 2004.
