Simple and at the same time complex music. Rita Payés does not go alone to La Mar de Músicas. The young 22-year-old Catalan trombonist and singer takes the stage with her mother, the guitarist Elisabeth Roma. Her musical career is not understood without her, with whom he has already toured all over Europe. In 2019, mother and daughter signed ‘Imagina’, the homonymous title of the iconic song by bossa nova master Antonio Carlos Jobim. An album of versions based on the roots of jazz, giving new life to ‘Eu sei que vou te amar’, ‘Alfonsina y el mar’ or ‘If the Moon Turns Green’, by Billie Holiday.
Her talent has led her to participate in several albums with Andrea Motis, Eva Fernández and Magali Datzira. Now, after nine years of musical career, Rita publishes for the first time eleven songs composed and written by herself in ‘Como la piel’. The disc has been recorded in the prestigious studio of David Casamitjana, technician of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, of which Rita has been a member under the direction of bassist and tenor Joan Chamorro. The chemistry that is created between mother and daughter is unleashed in songs like ‘ Nunca vas a comprehend’ or ‘ Quien lo would say’. The production of Juan Rodríguez Berbín, renowned Venezuelan musician who has been awarded a Latin Grammy, is also to blame. As well as the help of Carlos Freitas in ‘mastering’, who has worked with the great Toquinho, Caetano Veloso, Omara Portuondo or Gilberto Gil. A musical combination that sells out tickets wherever it goes, captivating connoisseurs and lay ears alike with a sound that is already a trademark of the house: jazz, bossa nova and classical guitar.

This latest album contains 13 songs that show the evolution of their sound towards a more compact and forceful line. ‘The ballad of Marty Mcfly’, ‘Bicimur’, ‘Drunk and crazy’ or ‘Who empties Spain?’ These are some songs composed by this genuine artist whose sound is influenced by Beat Happening, Daniel Johnston, Teen Suicide or La Estrella de David.
Violinist, singer and composer, María de la Flor’s training in music as diverse as jazz, flamenco or classical give her a depth and depth almost unprecedented in the new Castilian song.
They have written about her that she is the artist who claims the value of traditional music in times of auto-tune. He has shown this on ‘Temple’, the EP co-produced with the musician Diego Galaz (Fetén Fetén) and he continues to show it on his new songs, such as ‘El son del camino’ in which he joined forces with producer Juanma Latorre (Vetusta Morla) to compose and produce a song that, without moving away from the folkloric color of the EP, revealed a new facet.
