The new technical regulation, which will come into force from the 2022 world championship, will constitute a real question mark on the real performance of the single-seaters, even more so on the occasion of the pre-season tests and the first valid appointments for the championship. An element, that linked to the performance and the actual feedback of the cars, on which the collective curiosity of enthusiasts is based, now ready to enter a new era of Formula 1. At the same time, however, there is also a sort of concern coming from by technicians and designers, eager to see their creatures competitive right away.
As for the drivers and their driving style, which will have to adapt to the new single-seaters, those who do not seem particularly worried by this aspect seem to be the number 3 of McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian, on the eve of the presentation of the new MCL36, is not afraid of too long a period of time to be able to adapt to the car, as confirmed by the person concerned: “I think we are good enough to be competitive more or less immediately – said in an interview reported by nextgen-auto.com – as the season progresses, we will do a fine-tuning in parallel with the development of the car “. Speaking of the world championship, in this year’s tests Ricciardo will have the opportunity to test the car in both events scheduled in Spain and Bahrain, contrary to the decidedly shorter times of last season: “Looking back on last year – recalled the 32-year-old, who recently unveiled his new helmet – it was quite difficult for me with only a day and a half of rehearsal before the season started. Now, with three days, it will be double We will start testing in Barcelona before going to Bahrain, where the season starts a week later, which will help us. In a sense, the first race weekend could be an extension of the tests for us”.
