Ricciardo is considering a sabbatical for 2023. We are also looking at the other options for De Hondingdas.
Daniel Ricciardo is a bit of a dog when it comes to all transfer issues. Vettel leaves the sport somewhat with his tail between his legs. He has never reached the Red Bull level at Ferrari either. Fernando Alonso parried that action like a cunning fox by signing with Aston Martin for 2 years. This while the young dog Piastri goes to Alpine with a probability bordering on certainty.
Sabbatical an option for Ricciardo?
As a result, Ricciardo suddenly has to look for a seat for next year. Then of course the question is: where can he go? Or would Ricciardo also consider a sabbatical? Yes! At least that’s what he confirms to Formula1.com in the run-up to the Belgian GP which we can enjoy this weekend.
If it makes sense, yes. Formula 1 is the only racing class I’m interested in at this stage of my career. F1 is what I love and it’s where I see myself when I’m racing. But if the stars don’t align, and it doesn’t make sense next year, if it means taking that time to reset and re-evaluate, then I’m willing to do it if that’s the right thing to do. to do.
Daniel Ricciardo, wants to stop racing if it allows him to continue racing.
Sabbatical for Ricciardo deadly for career
We didn’t see that coming! It’s almost deadly to say this now for his career. Ricciardo is now 33 and his heyday at Red Bull is a few years behind him. Despite that great win over Monza, Ricciardo has never really excelled at McLaren.
Now that may be because of the car, but it is remarkable that he could not bend two completely different cars (the MCL35 and MCL36 are completely different due to different reel conditions). A year of sabbatical would then be the next step, just before ‘Yes, I’ll stop anyway’.
Options for Daniel Ricciardo
If Daniel ricciardo wants to keep racing (and he prefers that too), there are a few options:
Hare
It appears that Gunther Steiner and Daniel Ricciardo have already been in touch. Of course, this would be a dream pair for Drive To Survive. Mick Schumacher is not very convincing in the second season and Ricciardo fits perfectly with Haas in terms of character. Sure, it’s a step back, but Haas is one of those teams that can make two leaps forward (or backward) at once.
alpine
A quick fix would be to move to Alpine. Despite resigning there two years ago (to move to McLaren), that team has transformed quite a bit. At Alpine they need a good driver very quickly and the recruitment is quite so at the moment.
Williams
Another team that should be able to perform better than they do at the moment. With Jost Capito they have a heavyweight team boss. Alex Albon is a decent driver, Latifi is underperforming and his contract is expiring. This is where Ricciardo could step in if he makes a call. The seat next to Albon is still strongly linked to Nyck de Vries. But yes, that talent will be 28 years old next year with hardly any F1 experience. Ricciardo has proven several times that he can win races.
So what do you think? What will Daniel Ricciardo do? What should he choose for next year? Let us know, in the comments?
