The CEO of the German arms company Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, announced this weekend that its first arms factory in Ukraine is now operating, according to what he said in an interview with the Ukrainian media TSN.
This plant is dedicated to the manufacture and maintenance of combat tanks and it is expected that, before the end of the year, production can begin there Lynx armored fighting vehiclesPapperger said.
“We have many good plans. The first factory is already operational”said the head of the arms giant, who explained that, at the moment, maintenance is being offered to infantry combat vehicles and tanks.
“Before the end of the year we will have in Ukraine the first ultra-modern Lynx infantry fighting vehicles”, he added.
The plant is the result of a very “productive” joint business, in Papperger’s words, in which Rheinmetall owns 51% of the shares.
Furthermore, the German company It is also building a gunpowder factory and another ammunition factory in Ukraine.
“The third point is that we want to establish the production of air defense systems so that you can defend yourselves,” Papperger added.
