“For now”, it is not possible to “manage alternative means” since the A-2 motorway has also been affected by the fire from kilometer 204 to 211 in both directions
Renfe has suspended all train traffic linking Madrid with Aragon and Catalonia on Wednesday night due to the Ateca fire, which has approached the train tracks between Calatayud and Alhama de Aragón.
“The circulation of High-Speed and Regional trains that link Madrid with Aragón and Catalonia is suspended due to a large-scale fire between Calatayud and Alhama de Aragón,” Renfe reported on its official Twitter account.
He has also detailed that the fire has forced the Avlo train to move back to Barcelona from Zaragoza, which should have arrived in Madrid at 11:55 p.m. and left Barcelona at 9:10 p.m.
In this way, the affected trains will not leave their origin until the authorities allow it. Renfe is informing those affected by this incident “outside the railway operation” through all its communication channels, and is offering the possibility of changing or canceling the ticket at no cost.
Likewise, it has indicated that “for now”, it is not possible to “manage alternative means” since the A-2 motorway, which connects Madrid with Barcelona, has also been affected by the fire from kilometer 204 to 211 in both directions.
This Monday a forest fire has been declared in the municipality of Ateca, in the Calatayud region, which has forced the residents of Moros, Villalengua and Castejón de las Armas to be evacuated in a preventive manner.
The Government of Aragon has raised this Tuesday to operational situation 2 level 2 the Special Plan for Civil Protection of Emergencies due to Forest Fires of Aragon.
