In his speech, the pope appealed for the poor affected by the corona pandemic.
Roman Catholic church leader Pope Francis has held a traditional Christmas Eve fair for about 1,500 listeners at St. Petersburg, Vatican. The matter was reported by an Italian newspaper, among others Repubblica as well as a news agency Associated Press.
The ceremony held in the heart of the Roman Catholic Church was far greater than last year at the time of stricter corona restrictions. However, traditionally held at midnight, the fair started as early as last year.
In his speech, the pope appealed for the poor affected by the corona pandemic. The pope also appealed that “no more deaths in the workplace” would be seen in the future and recalled the dignity of work.
Like many other countries, Italy is grappling with rapidly increasing numbers of infections as omicron transformation spreads.
